About Projet - HealthSchedule

HealthSchedule is a patient-centered digital health solution designed to improve appointment management and medication adherence for patients with diverse healthcare needs, as well as for healthcare providers. The project was informed by observations and discussions of general healthcare workflows, where gaps in existing manual and semi-manual appointment scheduling and patient follow-up processes were identified.

Many healthcare clinics still rely on manual systems for booking, rescheduling, and tracking appointments. These processes can lead to scheduling errors, double bookings, missed appointments, and difficulty monitoring patient adherence to prescribed medication regimens. Patients—particularly older adults and those with complex health conditions—often face challenges remembering appointments, managing multiple medications, and rescheduling when conflicts arise.

HealthSchedule addresses these challenges by providing an integrated platform that supports both clinic operations and patient self-management. The system enables healthcare staff to schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments efficiently while tracking attendance and reducing no-show rates. At the same time, patients receive clear appointment reminders and medication notifications, including dosage and timing, helping improve treatment adherence and overall health outcomes.

Appointment Scheduling & Management

This module enables efficient scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellation of patient appointments. It is designed to eliminate common scheduling issues such as double bookings, incorrect appointment times, and missed appointments

Medication Tracking & Reminders

This module helps patients manage their prescribed medications by sending timely reminders and tracking adherence. It ensures patients take their medications correctly, improving treatment outcomes and reducing the risk of complication.

Notifications & Reminders

This module sends automated notifications and reminders to patients and healthcare providers, ensuring timely communication about appointments, medication schedules, and follow-up care.

Project Phases

Before beginning Phase One, this project establishes a clear understanding of the problem domain, user needs, and system objectives. This preparatory phase focuses on analyzing current healthcare workflows, identifying challenges in appointment scheduling and medication management, and defining functional requirements based on real-world observations. Insights gathered from healthcare administrators and patients guide the system’s design to ensure it is patient-centered, reduces manual errors, and improves operational efficiency. This foundation ensures that subsequent development phases are aligned with both clinical needs and patient usability.

Phase 1A: Project Description

Phase One outlines the system requirements and planning approach for the HealthSchedule application.

Phase 1B: Project Proposal

Phase 1B details the proposed research plan, including goals, methods, and evaluation approach for informing the design of HealthSchedule.

Phase 2: User Research + Personas + System Requirments

This phase transitions from broad exploration to focused design. By synthesizing our primary research into an Affinity Diagram, we identified core user pain points to build data-driven Personas. These insights directly informed our System Requirements, ensuring that HealthSchedule is built on a foundation of genuine user needs and functional precision. more related work

Phase 3: Sketches + Low-Fidelity Prototypes + Task List + User Evaluation

This phase focuses on transforming research insights into tangible design solutions. We explored multiple design alternatives through hand-drawn sketches and refined them into low-fidelity prototypes. The task list from Phase 2 was revised to align with evolving system functionality, and usability evaluations were conducted to assess effectiveness. Feedback from user testing informed iterative improvements, ensuring the final prototype reflects user-centered design principles. more related work
